I have a question about receiving the same model output regardless of what type
of case is run - control or experimental.
For the control case I ran CLM4.0 for 2 years without changing any input
datasets. For the experimental run a part of wetland land units was replaced
by vegetated ones (crops). At this point I met a ‘mismatch of input
dimension' error. I corrected this problem by running the experimental case with finidat=' ' (blank string) until model generated a restart file. Subsequently I ran the experimental case with finidat = ‘created restart file’. This seemed to be working in terms of giving output. However, it turned out that the model outputs are exactly the same in both control and experimental runs even though the percentage of wetlands and vegetated areas was changed in the second case. Are there any suggestions on how to overcome this problem?
Although there is a wetland land unit in the CLM, it is not considered because a surface water store has been used to the model to represent wetlands and other sub-grid scale water bodies.
Although I am not familiar with the structure of the particular model, it sound to me like your input/land type file is either being overwritten or completely ignored. If you have direct access to the code and/or can recompile, you should put some breakpoints or some intermediate printouts at particular locations in the code where the land type values should be passed to the model.
