I have been gathering research on myopathies related to high pressure deep tissue massage. I would like to hear comments on this presentation regarding current knowledge.
I am a Deep Tissue Therapist with what I would call extreme pressure. I do not find many therapists pushing the limits. The treatment results are amazing though. I am looking for tools to assist in my practice other than what I have been using. What is your research project about?
Hi Ken, I am engaged in attempting to pull together scientific theory on myofascial pain and it's treatment, the ancient knowledge on effective treatment of overuse injuries, and the design of effective tools for the widespread treatment of ligament, tendon and muscle tissue injuries due to overuse.
So I am looking for input, insight, practical effective treatments, from hands on practitioners and researchers investigating muscle overuse injury.
In addition to research into utilizing the BOOBOOTOOL ( patent # 5,817,037 ) to treat over active muscle spindle cells caused by overuse, I would like to call for research to investigate if high pressure - deep tissue treatment of the hamstring muscles would reduce elevated blood pressure readings in adults and pregnant women experiencing preeclampsia. I will post on this in the next couple of weeks.
If you feel you would like to investigate the use of the BBT in your work I could supply one for your evaluation.
Imbalance between the Spindle cells and Golgi cells ( the spindle cells being over active ) seems to result in a hyper tonus muscle. This in turn can place constant load on the tendons, resulting in deterioration of the collagen in the tendon ( tendinosis ). High pressure - deep tissue massage seems to overload the circuit for a short time and allow the muscle tissue to relax improving micro circulation and recovery. The BBT is designed to apply effective force when "stripping" the length of the muscle - from attachment to attachment.
