Looking for suggestions if anyone has induced autophagy in cells by any small molecules or by genetic means? I don't want to use mTOR pathway inhibitors or the starvation method, any suggestion is appreciated.
I am using MCF10A, however, if anyone has experience with other cells would also work.
Activation of sphingosine kinase 1 (SK1) induces autophagy and this pathway seems independent of mTOR. Phosphorylation activates SK1, e.g. with TNFalpha or IL1beta treatment. (there maybe many other ways to do so published)
