I have a problem in obtaining a transparent gel and glass in an aluminoborosilicate glass-ceramic, which is synthesized by the sol-gel method. In fact, my sol is homogenous and transparent, but after aging and gelation, it becomes opaque. Furthermore, after drying and heat treatment, it does not become transparent, and the final glass-ceramic is not transparent, either.

Sol-Gel is an engineered and hierarchical process. Several factors such as temperature, temperature ramp, pH, ratio of chemicals, etc affect the quality of the final product. If you can digitize the quality of the final product, the experimental design and modeling may be helpful.
