I want to use thin film dryer in place of cooling towers to cool down the hot fluid. Water will be used as the cooling medium. Can I use water contaminated with chlorides and sulphates for this purpose?
If yes, what will happen during evaporation of water at 120 C. Will chloride and sulphate compounds evaporate with water or will they remain as solid salt or or or?? I want to make sure that I collect pure water at 120C and not chloride and sulphate compounds. Any useful article about it?
As a short answer no you can't use contaminated water for the evaporation. In some cases the transfer of particulate material may be seen in the condensate of the water vapor so you may have to repeat this process multiple times to get the properties you desire. Chemical treatment may be possible another option to knock the chlorides and sulfates out of solution.
We will have a series of evaporators. Enough heat transfer will occur between hot fluid and water. What if I pass water from a series of 4 evaporators. End result would be good distilled water I believe?
What is the solution you are cooling Nauman as it is not clear in your question. If you want to use the thin film dryer as a heat exchanger then the contaminated water will not be suitable as in the long run salts will deposit on the inside of tube walls and eventually will restrict the flow of cooling water besides sulphates and chlorides may attack materials in the system.
