The reality is most heneious mass shooters, terrorists, random killers, drug business owners, violence creators, oppressors, war creators, rapists are men. Painfully still, our society is anti-feminism. Why men hate women, rape women, do violence against women and do not recognize the caregiving and reproductive role of women? Women are bringing life into the world and raising the children, how do men forget that in their daily lives? It is taking my whole life's energy to understand and learn how to challenge patriarchy. I am getting more curious to know the history of patriarchy, capitalism, religion and rape culture. Any suggestion for any important reading?
N.B: Feminism is not "male-bashing" or "man-hating". We need to learn how to challenge institutionalized, systematic oppression, we need to make a movement to end sexism.
Louise Michel is quite interesting to read both in the historical perspective and as a political author (she was one of the key figures of the commune de Paris).
Although I agree with you concerning the daily wrongdoing of men and about feminism obviously not man-bashing, I am quite pessimistic about the possibility of something really better. It seems that neoliberal insanity is, quite succefully, reshaping feminism as an empty branding to support capitalism (see for instance https://theconversation.com/how-neoliberalism-colonised-feminism-and-what-you-can-do-about-it-94856)
It is very possible to picture a society proning equality between men and women while maintaining enormous economical inequalities. As I see it, it's now completely impossible to defend existing essential inequalities between men and women therefore actually existing inequalities are going to be less and less visible. On the other hand, since it's possible to defend economical inequality as something inherent to reality (which is more or less neoliberal dogma), existing economical inequality can be somewhat tolerated.
Pierre-Yves Gicquel do you recommend any specific readings of Louise Michel? I just found it interesting reading. Sharing for everyone.
