According to your question I think you want to start this project, if so, you need to consider some issues. this is a R&D project and many groups are working to optimize it(to achieve not only higher conversion rate but also higher selectivity of Methanol and also higher energy efficiency) then it is not an easy or routine method. I dont want to discourage you but you need to know such issues before start your project. for begin you can use related thesis, they can help you with more detail and they are simpler than publications.
I think you need to visit the basic chemistry part of this first. Then try to read some papers and have some trial runs. I am no expert in this area, but all I can say is dwelve into the chemistry.
