Could anyone tell me where I can find the Canada soil data base which based by HWSD. My research basin located in Quebec, so Quebec soil base is also available.
I am currently working on harmonizing Canada and US soil data for a SWAT modeling and the above mentioned sources are where you need to go and find soil data for your study area. They do have almost all of the parameters you need for SWAT modeling. You may need to convert units and calculate 2 or 3 SWAT soil parameters, such as AWC(%) and K from parameters available in the database.
You can find a coarse resolution soil data-set for the entire country at http://sis.agr.gc.ca/cansis/nsdb/slc/v3.2/index.html
For a more finer resolution data-set, you may go to http://sis.agr.gc.ca/cansis/publications/surveys/pq/index.html#DSS. However, they have the shape files for only few areas in Quebec. I am not sure if your study area lays in there. If it does, it is your lucky day! Otherwise you may need to use both sources.
Could you please direct me to use HWSD to create soil classification lookuptable for HRU analysis?
I am using ArcSWAT and my case watershed is in Ethiopia. I have tried by replacing the UserSoil in SWAT2012 access by that of HWSD_DATA in the HWSD table. While I add the soil data in ArcSWAT, Land use/soil Data/slope definition and choose UserSoil database option then the soil values have appeared in the table, which I think are ID numbers of the HWSD data. But I am not sure which name to use to create a lookup table (it seems there is no unique name except the Id in the HWSD_DATA ) and I doubt whether SWAT will be able to load from the replaced usersoil (as the format of the two table is not similar) I have simply imported the HWSD_DATA in the SWAT2012 access data and renamed and replaced its usersoil by the imported one.
could you please share with me supporting materials also at [email protected]
