i am stucked on comprehending the need and relevance of using either the grounded theory or the sequential exploratory mixed method. I need expertise advise n guidelines. possibly reference on works that have used it to enable know it applicability and use. since i cant quantify Indigenous knowledge.

If it is possible for you to record audiofiles of interviews or during fieldwork, you could utilize ‘content analysis’ as part of your mixed method design. Content analysis allows you to both quantify and qualify data, so to say. Researchers from Finland - Elo and Kyngäs - have an excellent paper on this method. I think it is from 2004 or 2007. Try to search here in RG or on GS. If you write their last names and content analysis, then the paper will show up.

When your study focuses on IKS, you may first want to explore the characteristics and manifestations of indigenous knowledge. An etnographic study design will help you explore, analyse and assess various aspects of the indigenous knowlege. As you develop your ethnographic study, design an observation tool. The tool will assist you to identify various IK aspects. Use this tool when you participate in various cultural events or gathering. Other than observation, do formal and informal interviews. Target the cultural elites and those who have the knowledge of local cultural heritage for your formal in-depth interviews.
