I did some small angle x-ray scattering studies and I need to obtain the correlation function graph from typical one-dimensional saxs pattern and then calculate the long period, crystal thickness and inter-lamellar amorphous thickness. Can any one help me
Dear Sarath, The one-dimensional SAXS pattern needs to be converted from scattering angle (°) to scattering vector (q^-1) using the Bragg equation. Then perform a Fourier transform to convert reciprocal space (q^-1) into cartesian dimension (q). This is called a one dimensional correlation function. From this the long period (translation from a face of one crystal to the same face of the neighbouring crystal) can be readily calculated, but the short period (crystal thickness) is more difficult. I cannot explain the method in this note; please consult Goderis who has described the calculations in this cited paper and other related papers, however the calculations are still difficult to perform but can be done with the Fourier function in Excel but Origin, Matlab or Mathematica are more suited (Goderis, B., Reynaers, H. and Koch, M.
