I have an experiment where I need to grow E. coli cells in various different concentrations of metals. Therefore, I'm making the media from scratch so I can take metals out completely or add more in. The problem is I have to make sure the media I am creating is similar to the LB I've used in previous experiments and LB has two elements, Tryptone and Yeast Extract, that I can not and do not know the metal content of.

I want to break them down into their exact ingredients but I can't find anywhere that can define what EXACTLY is in them. Because of this I want to use alternatives to Tryptone and Yeast Extract that I can control/know the metal content of. Do any of you know of alternatives I can use that would help?

I obviously know I can't outright stop the introduction of metals into my experiment but I do need to make sure they are as controlled as I can make it.
