labview! Use the RS232 port to connect to your computer, or RS232 to USB or GPIB (in that case you need a GPIB - PCI card for your computer).

Most meters have labview VIs (Virtual Instrument = code to communicate/read/write/interface between hardware and computer) available either from the manufacturer or on ni.com (national instrument).

I recently did this with a Keithley multimeter and GPIB port to log voltages from a microwave circuit.

For such tasks, I use PYTHON instead (with PySerial or PyVISA), because I do not have a labview licence. It is very simple to write some lines for read out of multimeters (much easier than using a c++ compiler).
