Hello - you may have seen this publication, can download as pdf "Afar National Regional State Climate Change Adaptation prog"📷Dadino Dango, " "Afar National Regional State Programme of Plan on Adaptation to Climate Change" - not much on Acacia species though. Same for the brandnew article:
"Indigenous weather and climate forecasting knowledge among Afar pastoralists of north eastern Ethiopia: Role in adaptation to weather and climate variability"

There is an ecological interdisciplinary investigation of the impact of severe drought in the Sahel in mid of 1970, it has all important ecological parameters investigated (precipitation, temperature etc) and how this affect the various species of Acacia, eg. the "Neem tree". It is not specific to Ethiopia - and it is in German! But if you let me know which Acacia species and which ecological parameters you are interested in then I may be able to help by translating the relevant sections... Just let me know.
