From my capacity as a faculty of engineering, I have a suggestion. It is based on the feed back that I have received from my students. Most of the times they are not able to understand the practical situation of the mathematical functions, techniques and methods that they learn.

My experience as a professor of Differential Calculus in fields as interesting as Engineering is based on the student's underlying interest. Whatever the engineering specialty that the students have chosen, it reveals their interest, and that leads me to relate the content of the subject that deals with some topic of interest to engineering. For example, to introduce the theme of functions, I usually match it with the modeling of phenomena observed by physics.
I also use MATLAB, and as a help group I usually create some webpage controlled by me, where students can share their experiences. In these pages I propose some problem and I invite the students to publish their contributions, in the end they construct an "article", that is stimulating for the investigation.

Recognition, competition, and collaboration all have the potential to contribute to learning in the classroom. I think most teachers use forms of gaming in their classroom, but they don’t necessarily refer to it as gamification. Many web-based companies continue to interweave the idea of games and learning right from the pre school to university years. Several iPad educational games are also adding to the gaming party. Teachers often use games to engage students in the classroom. I do believe though that staff should always be aware of what learning outcomes the games address to also validate why they are being played. For some, the idea of playing games is related to entertainment, not learning. Why can’t it be both? Personally, I find that board, card, math contests, chess and dice games to be effective in helping students retain and apply mathematical practices in the classroom. Not only do they encourage students to collaborate and use social skills, group dynamics & team building. An evaluation after the class also allows time to reflect on further strategies around gamification and reinforce, mathematical processes.
