If option two is preferred then lockdown restriction should be lifted. This issue is particularly important for the developing countries where a vast majority of poor people live. Food is the basic need. Synergies or tradeoffs?
Health comes first dear G.M. Monirul Alam . In Bangladesh context food security didn't secure rich people from getting infected. On the flip side, despite low level of heath security it seems that covid relatively spare peoples living in slum areas. Low level of food security didn't play a role here albeit some public heath experts said that less testing may be the cause of the low numbers. We are also getting fewer patients coming from low socioeconomic background. Still its a matter of serious investigation to find out the causes of low level of covid infection in those locality.
I would say we need to focus on both, health is the biggest priority but equally food security is important to prevent any case of famine or death due to hunger. Based on different countries situation currently on COVID 19 pandemic this priority can change. I firmly believe there would be more problems faced due to food shortage rather than overall health.
Food Security as we had educated people to live with social distancing and more hygienic lifestyle. Food need to be on top of agenda now while maintaining strict discipline on distancing and covid measures
Sir, at this moment, we barely afford complete lockdown as the majority of country people live on hand to mouth basis. Improving the health sector, making people more conscious regarding the prevention and protection system in their working areas, disbursing information as much as possible is the only way to avoid a severe outbreak in future days.
More men will be infected and we do not have any medicine yet, but as I mentioned, if the information is reached properly, gradually people will learn how to follow accordingly.
Accessibility to safe and nutritious food at this time of pandemic should be considered as a PRIORITY. In countries like South Korea where COVID19 cases has greatly subsided, citizens adhere strictly to Social distancing and many Asymptomatic patients were able to recover during self-isolation without causing more damage to others because they had access to cheap and available food.
No rise in food cost nor scarcity of food products and materials. When people are hungry, there's panic and chaos 😊
Covid is basically Flu and there is no medicine that is effective to fight against except human immune systems and it comes from food, drink, sleep, work, exercise and its balance ... Food plays a major role thus we need to find short and long term solution for this food ...may be with urban agri technology
Both should be prioritized. Since the question is more prioritize, in my submission food security is key during this pandemic. Recall there are foods that have neutraceutical properties which can boost immune system, prevent the attack of COVID-19 when available and consumed by people
Food security should be focused on more because good diet improves immune system and a healthy lifestyle, covid-19 is a contractible disease and when contracted a healthy immune system can fight it's the growth and development of the covid-19 spores. Food security should taken seriously as without food the immune system can go down drastically, on the measures to gift the covid-19 social distancing should be highly encouraged even during food processing.
Thank you all for your response. Poor people will go for the option two- food security. Food is the basic need. They used to do very life risky job to feed themselves. Therefore, they are not much afraid of COVID-19. They are concern about their food security. Poor people hardly go to doctors because they cann't afford the medical cost. Health service system in developing countries are very poor. If the country able to feed the poor people then lockdown will work otherwise not. Food insecurity - ill health- missed out work - chronic poverty/die. This is not a simple option for government to take. Working people have some level of immune system which give us hope that they will not be affected so badly in absence of health services in developing countries. But unfortunately many people will die. May Allah save us!
Both food and health were essential factors for every human beings. We have to focus on both category, here in pandemic condition we have to care about peoples health and on the same time many of them were facing problem of hunger and availability of sufficient food. Due to this lock down happens everywhere the percentage of people who facing food availability is become high because of jobless and lock down issues , so they were also became mentally , physically down. Food and health problems faced by the people are occur endlessly , instead of wasting huge amounts for paying useless luxury can feed lots of.....
In our local markets, there aren't problems of provision. My work is the official control of food industry and obviosly the control of the small food shops or restaurants, etc. We have focused the inspections in the preventive covid mesures, the control of export and the HACCPs. Nowadays, we are going to visit the industry.
Lack of food would kill even otherwise heathy people, there is a chance of surviving the illness but one can't survive hunger. It's a 50/50 situation, partial lockdown however seems to work in Kenya, that way more people can afford at least a meal a day and can live to fight another day.
Health is a component of food security (utilization), one cannot conceive food security without health. The latter is a pre-condition, the former the ultimate outcome.
This question is quite interrelated among both the aspects.
First of all we need food to meet our hunger as well as for building our body. Now if the foods that we consume, are contaminated with harmful pathogens or adulterated with poisonous additives, can lead to opposite affects rather than developing our body. So we should emphasis more on safety as well as security of foods when it talks about healthy body development.

Hunger and food security are more than a determinants of health. The Covid aggravated the food security not only in developing economies in Asia or Africa, but it affected the food security and health behaviors in developed economy also.

Food security should get more priority as it affects health condition. If proper intake of food can be ensured, then health conditions of people will be improved. And good health condition is most important for treating against COVID-19 severity.
