I have used monohydrate citric acid in water for synthesis of graphene quantum dots instead of anhydrous, i have got unsatisfactory results ?

is this is because i have used monohydrate instead of anhydrous? or any other reason plz any one help

I believe it is due to some other reason. Since you are having water in your synthesis, using a monohydrate reagent does not affect your conditions, regarding the water content
