I have vegitaion index image. I have developed two differrent equeations for leaf area index since this area is coveredd by two land covers.
how can i apply these equation to my vegitaion index image?
Some software packages offer an option for applying a mask to the image to exclude certain areas from these calculations (for example, clouds and cloud shadows should be excluded). You can use overlay options or a raster calculator to produce mask images to do the same. In the same way, reclassify the affected band by using Reclass/Reclassify to create a boolean mask image in which the pixels where some class of land cover are present have a value of 1 and the rest have a value of zero.
Thank you all for answering the question. I could do the task and i closely followed a method simillar to the Oliver.
1. mask my image only to show the landcover class i need using ENVI mask buld and apply mask tools.
2. Then apply equation using bandmath to the masked image.
3. After applying equations for all layers sepertely, i can use band math to add all masked layers with new values.
