normally drug resistant tuberculosis patients are immuno suppressed and Vitamin D play role in fighting against Mycobacterium TB.they tends to be Vitamin D deficient, but here the high values of Vitamin D shows what possible reason other than the immune system.
I don't think that this statement is correct... I have never heard that patients with MDR/XDR are immunosuppressed. Why would antibotic resistance be linked to host vitamin D levels? And it's not like people are likely to get infected with MDR/XDR TB due to their vitamin D levels. Why would they? Do you have a reference for this statement?
And yes, vitamin D has a "role" in defense against MTB.. but how much of a role is still highly debatable. Yes, maybe patients who are vitamin D deficient can benefit from raising their levels, but that's all you can say. I'm pretty sure the majority of people with MDR/XDR and even just normal MTB infections get disease even with adequate vitamin D levels.
thank you respected Dr. Elamin Abdelgadir Elamin Abdelgadir . Sir I don't understand this statement that granuloma tends to produce Vit D.... Could you please explain this to me and provide reference to it.
