I am working on a natural compound which is active against cryptococcous hving an MIC around 5.5 mg/ml. Can it be considered as an antifungal or a potent antifungal drug candidate? Is there any specification regarding the concentrations of a natural compound to be used as antifungals?
By comparing to your control, you can calculate how much you had MIC.

I suppose that your compound is pure, because it's not significant to talk about MIC with crude extract.
There is no general intervals for MIC values interpretation. At this level, the efficiency of your compound as antifungal has two limits, the MIC and toxicity concentration (minimum concentration producing toxicity).
If your compound has MIC value higher or close to toxicity value, then you can't continue with it as it is. Contrary, if MIC is lower than toxicity concentration you can continue with your compound.
