Growth in Market Share as competitive advantage, Can i use it?

I read in David Aaker, V.Kumar and Days (2008) 9th edition of Market research book that most the firms use market share as competitive advantage.

But the problem is I am measuring all antecedents of competitive edge through a survey (Asking form the customers of the company) I searched a lot for a questionnaire (Scale) to measure competitive advantage in eyes of existing users customers.

Customers are leading today economy, companies do not disappear because of competition strategies, the companies are disappearing becuase of not understanding the custonmers.

If there is any study in which the items for Competitive advantage has been mentioned in point of view of respondents (Customers)? Please share with me that study, it would be a great help.

if i go with the market share, I am more confused about the calculation of my model (Methodology part). I want to collect Independent variable responses from the customers and have market share as secondary data (competitive advantage).
