After tracking a video is generated as result where each fish is marked with a different number (and a colour) and a coloured trail follows the motion of the fish. How to save this video which comes in the result, so that I can get back to it later?

I think it's possible to watch the video again with the idPlayer, which is also distributed together with the tracker. If you are interested to save this video independent from the id-apps, to my knowledge, that's not a built-in function. You do get a file with the location of the centroids assigned to a track. It's straight-forward to add these points in different colors to your video in matlab, therefore re-creating the trail-video.

In the trajectories file you get the coordinates of each individual per frame right? Now you have to write a program which calculates the distance travelled in each frame from the coordinates in the two frames (just as we calculate the distance if we know two coordinates on a graph paper) and then sum it across all frames (i.e. add all those segments or distances between each coordinates). You can write a Matlab code or in any other language too(you have a .txt file too).
