I am trying to make stearic acid water soluble using copolymer preparation, but I am not getting the exact material after dialysis. How do I get it?

While trying to prepare conjugate of stearic acid and gelatin. I am not getting water soluble material. how to make stearic acid water soluble?

Dear Sir, Michael Päch , I am trying to work with stearic acid based formulation, where I will graft a polymer to the -COO group of stearic acid using EDC/NHS. So, after the complete reaction I can't separate the grafted polymer which should be water soluble. All the time it is coming like oily type material and which tend to form colloidal suspension.
