The lubbock model uses Bolton broth with 50% plasma and 5% freeze thawed laked horse blood. I would like to know if I could just use bolton broth/or TSB and supplement with vit K and hemin. Plasma and laked horse blood is expensive. But also, with once a day media changes, would I have to remake media every time- I am guessing with plasma and blood added, the shelf life would not be more than a day. Would this be true with just Plasma added as well? I would store it in aliquots in -20*C but am unsure how I would store the horse blood. what is the point of using the laked blood? the plasma? (this is supposed to simulate a wound environment.)
