In your paper, you have mentioned, the stratified soil consists of layers of heavily weathered sandstone with different thicknesses as follows: Top, 6.5 m, second, 3.1 m, tertiary, 3.2 m, and quaternary, 0.8 m.

I want to know that, you have modelled the five different layers by assembling five soil Parts in Abaqus or any other technique?

To model a 3D multi-layer soil, you can 1) model the different layers by assembling the different parts of the soil in Assembly module or 2) you can also partition the model into different layers in the Part module and define the corresponding sections and their respective properties in the Property module.

If you choose to use the first method, you will have to define the master and slave contact surfaces as well as the contact properties on the other hand if you use the second method no need to define an interaction between the contact surfaces of the different layers of ground

Note that the simulation time is smaller when the second method is adopted. However, the first method could better reflect the reality on the ground if the interaction and contact properties are well defined.
