Recently cytomegalovirus is shown to infect human pancreas islets. I wonder this virus will modify IA-2 antigens in these tissues.

I have not working on IA-2 for a while. Whether CMV can modify IA-2 antigen expression is not known, but should be easy to test.
The IA-1 (INSM1) expression is up-regulated by HSV. There is a report about this topic and my lab has confirmed the result.

Good morning, I think how EBV can modify the activity of Lymphocytes B so CMV with other cells. I do not think well yet in which cells the CMV is inserted and how the immune system reacts sharply and over time, even when the herpes virus is reactivated. It is known that juvenile diabetes develops after an intestinal viral infection with an alteration of phenotypic tolerance to pancreatic cells (reduction of Tregulators, FOXP3 + Lymphocytes, increase M1).
