We can make a satisfaction analogy with building a well-structured family. With this structuring you feel you are productive and efficient and are helping to broaden world knowledge. With this, satisfaction is of pleasure and fulfillment of duty as a scientist.
Expression of appreciation is certainly a positive feedback which acts as a stimulant and fuels a researcher's impetus in pursuing his/her projects. As Voltaire states , “Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”
I will be happy and thankful to that researcher and at the same time encourages me to work continuously and seriously in the process of scientific research
If you want to impress someone; impress yourself first because you know the quality of your work better than anyone. Self motivation to reach a goal is also the best motivation.
Certainly, if the one who appreciate my research project is an expert in my research domain, I feel happy and excited. Therefore, I will appreciate his/her support.
It very much depends on who appreciate my work. Sometimes I think: "If this one praises me, it means that I did something wrong". But there are a few people whose recognition makes me happy... for a few hours.

There is a proverbial saying: (the loneliness doesn't worthy only to God).
The human nature does not like isolation and loneliness, so whenever others show their willingness to participate in his/her interesting matters s whenever it is a source of pleasure and confidence in himself/herself and in others more.
