My mtDNA analyses supports 2 clades while the microsatellite analysis support 3 clades, one being non-monophyletic in regard to mtDNA. Can the third clade be resulting from introgression and back-crossing?
I wish I had more information; but if there is a diploid species (domestic species), then you will find in the regions where the introduction of the population is made maternally two clades and in the regions where introduction is made from parents to three clades (primarily due to the phenomenon of crossing over)
Hi, thank you for your answer, Yes it is a diploid species. Actually two diploid species, hybridizing on the whole range of one of the species. Would you have a paper to suggest about crossing-over leading to a third clade?
What kind of analysis was done on the microsatellites? Which criteria are used to define the number of clades? Without this information it is difficult to interpret this supposed discordance.
