The concept of stability is clearly defined in science, in particular in management theory. A stable system responds to small changes in the values of control factors by small changes in its state. In General, changes in the state of a stable system are proportional to changes in the values of factors acting on it. For now, time is not included in these dependencies. In other words, the time during which these changes occurred in the values of factors and the state of the system may take milliseconds, or millions of years. So if you are asking about time, you need to answer the question with a question. You must tell us how dynamic the development of a country's economy is. In one country, revolutions in the economy occur every 10 years, and in another every 200 years. If we take dynamic countries, then 3 years of successful work of the company is already an achievement. If we consider conservative countries, then we can talk about the firm's stability if it has been successfully operating for several tens years.

I had my own company in the field of intellectual technologies in Russia from 1988 to 1999. This company (Eidos Research and production company) worked very successfully. I think it was very stable and successful. I closed it a year after the default, which was in 1998. During the year, there were no orders at all.

In fact, this means that the number of events, rather than the time itself, must be taken into account in order to infer the stability of success. Time in different countries is saturated with the number of events in different ways. Different countries have different event densities per unit of time. Therefore, the calendar period for assessing the sustainability of success will be different.

I claim both in Hungary and Finland 5 to 10 years is the period for long term planning depending on the industry and the company in focus. Still I feel that as Nokia Mobile Phone Ltd. spent approximately 14 years in Hungary, but now in retrospect in was not neccesarily a long-term succeess. Everything is relative. I fully agree that success that lasts and is sustained is true success. You asked very relevant question - what is meant by sustained success in each country/culture, what period of time we talk about. Mr. Eugene Veniaminovich Lutsenko made a very good point, it can depend on how dynamic the development of a country's economy is.

In general, I think that, for example, 10 years could be a long enough period of time to see weather organization is successful or not, weather it has achieved sustainable success or not.

First, it is very difficult to define what success is and even more difficult what is sustainable success. I'd rather talk about the sustainability of a business, process, strategy, mission or vision.When it comes to sustainability or duration (temporal) then one can say that one generation (father) leaves a new generation (son) with some resource, business and the like. If I were to define success, though, I would generally say that success is about doing, making mistakes and not repeating the same mistakes, and that really means learning. As for the time period, I would rather talk about sustainability among generations than about years.This means, as previously stated, that one generation (father) leaves the second generation (son) a conserved and usable resources, business and such.

To succeed in any field, the first and foremost thing is having a strong determination and it leads you towards success.

Sustained or sustainable success is a success that spans over many generations of leadership in an organization, success that makes multiple generations of stakeholders to become satisfied with the functioning organization, its vision, mission, core values...

Sustainable success involves significant decision making skill, good leadership and adapting to rapid changes without risking the organization. I belong to such a country where sustained success happen once in 100 years.
