New to Abaqus, trying to model a 2D rectangular beam with thickness to conduct buckling analysis. However, I am only able to use Shell feature draw the beam length but can't assign thickness or cross section to it. The only section I can assigned is solid homogenous.

You can create a rectangular section with modeling space as 2D planar shell with type as deformable.
