I studied magnetic field effect on NaCl and KCl crystals many years ago. All those crystals contain very few amount of iron that form magnetic colloidal nano sized particles. Due to magnetic admixtures for example optical properties of those crystals were changed. Study of magnetic field effects on huge amount of objects have led me to conclusion to all effects are due to magnetic particles admixtures at concentration more than 0,01 mg/kg.

Please characterize your materials by using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). This will confirm the magnetic properties and strength of magnetism within material.

In our case we deal with more delicate processes not reducing to the energy or force influences. Otherwise we would not observe our effects at helium temperatures or under ultra-low magnetic fields in the EPR-like resonance scheme:

In these resonance experiments we use the static field ~50 microTesla (the Earth field and the alternative field with the amplitude ~3 microTesla and the frequencies ~104-106 Hz.
The sensitivity of the effect to the impurity contents is very high: the addition to the crystal NaCl only 0.05 ppm Ni twice increase the mean dislocation path.

You can use SQUID, VSM, AGFM techniques. These tools provide you with he magnetic moment of your material.
Other magnetic properties may be performed using Ferromagneic Resonance(or Brillouin light scatering) technique to have acces to the magnetic anisotropy of your material. You have also acces to the magnetoresiance loops by using the appropriate tools.

Hi. I think you should use SQUID magnetometry. The density of NaCl is about 2 g/cm3. If you take a small cube 5x5x5 mm3 of your mixture with only 10-8 parts of magnetic material for the measurement, it means that the weight of the magnetic entities is about 2x10-9 g. Assumming that it is Fe, which has about 200 emu/g, it will exhibit a magnetic momento of about 4x10-7 emu, i.e. within the confortable range of SQUID but too low for VSM.
