How well does a vortexer work for bead-based homogenization?

I developed a protocol for homogenizing lung tissue using 1mm glass beads and a BioSpec MiniBead Beater-16 at my previous institution but I have not been able to locate a bead homogenizer at my current institution. Does anyone have any experience using a vortexer for bead-based homogenization of tissue?

Tissue of interest includes lung tissue and tracheal tissue.
