For me, it is very complicated to answer this.
Climate smart agriculture is nothing but the development of crop for changing climate conditions and consumers preferred products. The climate smart agriculture can be adapted by the developing the Drought, Heat and salinity, high responsive fertilizers and day neutral plant also by utilizing the biotechnological tool. In the case of the GM products the standard agricultural practices is not going to change majorly and the production can be increased by adopting new cultivation techniques in the different crops.
An approach would be to identify the crop wild relatives which have properties resistant to climate change and then to cross them with the crops.
To me a judicious link with climate smart agriculture with plant biotechnology can be obtained using development of smart canopy that can sustain in changed and challenged conditions with least yield penalty.
