EMERGENCY OF BULLYING AT WORK (organization, university)
STRATEGIES AND BEHAVIOUR
The attackers use various strategies for their aggression, namely refuse direct communication, disqualify the victim, add tasks useless to the victim, induce it in error. The higher hierarchical level of the offender more easily practiced bullying, because the victim is more easily frightened.
Usually five strategies are used:
• Relationship Strategy treatment of inferiority to the harassed;
• community isolation strategy in which beset is inserted;
• Attack Strategy to submit the beleaguered public disrepute;
• concealment strategy humiliated with indirect observations, jokes and mockery of derogatory nature.
Hirigoyen (2002) considers that there are four groups of behaviors
1) In terms of content, organization and other conditions of work:
• Ask for system, negative criticism of the professional performance of the victim;
• Hold, divert, store, destroy or modify essential information for carrying out the tasks;
• Reduce (or remove the victim) autonomy at work;
• Do not provide, remove (or reduce access to) basic facilities and equipment to carry out the tasks (eg, office, desk, computer, phone, fax, car.);
• Allocation of repetitive tasks and monotonous
• Assignment, against the will of the victim, tasks that could endanger their health and safety as a worker;
• Award for system tasks that fall short of the skills and qualifications of victim;
• Press the victim to give up their rights as an employee (eg, compensation for overtime, bonuses.);
• Do not assigning tasks, putting the victim "on the shelf";
• Harming career promotion;
• Do everything for the victim to commit serious errors or omissions giving rise to a disciplinary process or set up a lay-off;
• 2) The level of interpersonal and intergroup communication:
• Reduce the quantity and quality of information;
• Only communicate in writing or by e-mail;
• Never appear at the office or on the victim's job;
• Refuse to talk to the victim;
• refuse to grant you an interview;
• Ignore its presence in groups;
• Prohibit the group speak to him;
• Place the victim in a secluded place, etc.
3) The level of dignity as a human person:
• Demote and disqualify the person, per system;
• belittle or humiliate the victim in front of others (colleagues, subordinates, superiors, clients, users);
• Making gestures or body postures that reveal contempt;
4) Within the dual, verbal and non-verbal behavior:
• Close her office door in the face;
• Invade your electronic mailbox or your desk with hostile or provocative messages;
