Cassava is useful as an energy source but has very little protein, about 1.3%.  So for animals, they would need a high quality protein source to go with cassava.

In tropical Africa, cassava is a good feed resource.

Cassava is a cheap source of energy for animals especially ruminant animals that need little amount of proteins as well as for pigs. Processing such as fermentation and boiling improves its nutritional qualities and reduces the amount of anti-nutrient present in it.

The use of improved varieties also helps in eliminating harmful species

Thanks to all of you. It's true, cassava has a big poteential as animal feed, and it's true too that cassava is mainly an energy source but cassava leaves have a very good quantily of protein (at least more than 20%, it depend of the varieties); cassava rpotein has a very good quality and cassava leaves are very rich in lysine and pigments asm carotenes and xanthofuyll- You can prepare silage with both roots or peels, and leaves. This an excellent feed for ruminants and non-ruminants like pigs. I think cassava could be a more extended use as anmal feed, especially for the small farmers, because is a suitable alternative in front of the high prices of concentrartes and the feed scarcity during the dry season in our countries. Thanks to Khalid Hassan for your recommendation, regards everybody and Let's use cassava as animal feed!!

I agree with Yoel's comments on the use of cassava,  however the current food situation calls for cassava use in human diets.  Therefore,  by products from cassavasuch as leaves,  peels and  waste  appear the ideal foodstuff for animal diets 

thanks, it is true, we can use cassava for both, human and animals (because animal will give food too for us!!). In times of climate challenges cassava is and will be an important crop that we need to take in account
