Always write the introduction after the research so that it can be focussed and concise
I agree with the reply above. Your introduction should contain the scope of your research, why your work is significant, and the case you will be making in your write-up.

A thesis introduction chapter should contain:
- A background statement that establishes the broader context
- A problem statement that focuses the key themes explored in the background on the chosen resea area
- A statement of the aim, objectives and research questions of the study
- An outline of the remaining chapters in the thesis
Other sections such as rationale, limitations and hypotheses are optional.
The argumentation style should be adversarial. The purpose is to convince your reader that your chosen topic is interesting, original and viable.
I totally agree with Mr. Michael Esang and Mr. Peter Samuels.. begin with presenting the broader scenario and then narrow it down.. Definitely you should present related problems and why this research is needed.. additionally if the research is based on your country then the current progress and the obstacles needed to be there.
