Diffusion simulations may close the gap between macroscopic hydrogen concentration measurements, which average over the sample volume, and local hydrogen accumulations, like ahead of notches or in the vicinity of sheared edges. However, such diffusion simulations need appropriate experimental validation techniques.

Furthermore, the development of validated diffusion simulations is a very important step to develop predictive damage models.

I would like to open a discussion to improve understanding and exchange possible new approaches.
