The idea of grid synchronization is to inject generated power from PV into the grid. All the grid synchronized inverter works with grid as a reference any way you can have a local load.
I think you cannot use diesel generator in the place of grid. you cannot inject power into the diesel generator. The question is not clear..
1. why do you want to use diesel generator? ,
2. Do you have local load depending on the PV generation,
3. Are you intending to use the inverter for both ON and OFF grid purpose?
In my hometown 4MW PV system is available in one Engineering College, it is a grid connected system. In that case during on grid time only PV system delivers power to the load (what ever may be the load, load is also not being constant in case of Engineering college) because it takes reference from grid.
But during off grid period the PV system do not able to work because the reference is absence here..
my question is very clear, "How to utilize the generated power during off grid period from this solar plant.".
Oh it is not small power from PV and it is problem. You need mabe gas turbine with smaller generators power 1-2 MW for main esential function in College wih natural gas if you have it near or biomass. Disel is of course solution but expensive.
