Would you share your opinion regarding the utility of H-index when selecting a journal for submitting original articles? I got invited to submit an article from a US journal which has a H-index of 7. Would one consider this number to be a good journal number?

H-index is the rank that bases on citations and publication number of a journal there is no good H-index for journals and it related to the journal topics and area. I recommend you to compare H-index of the selected journal to top journals in that area

Thank you very much for the constructive feedback. I will keep it in mind. The journal I was invited to later turned out to have poor reputation. Thus, I have decided not to put my work there.

It depends on your work if you have a good article then search on a high H index. In my opinion, all the Journal that indexed by SCOPUS and Web of science, even if the H index is low, it is better than other Journal that outside the indexing.
Dear Azmyin Md Kamal It is better to check the quartile of the journal (Q1,Q2, Q3, or Q4). Try to avoid Q4 and Q3 journals.
