When the implant bodies are too closed together, I will use the prefabricated gold-palladium cylinders. Lute them together and then take a pick-up impression. The impression and cylinders are most usually on abutments and not at the implant level.. A second method is to first construct a screw retained provisional prosthesis, verify its fit and then take an open tray pick up impression.
When the implants are too close I reduce the diameter of impression posts for passive seating in the implants, tie these impression posts, and use open tray for pick up impression.
