I am growing E.coli in M9 supplemented media (M9 salts, 1mM thiamine hydrochloride, 0.4% glycerol, 0.2% casamino acids, 2mM MgSO4 and 0.1mM CaCl2). However, the growth is not as good as in LB media. Any suggestion how to improve it? can I use the same recipe x2?

And why you are using M9?

So you can't use yeast extract.
Unfortunately I don't remember metabolism of E.coli.
Keep digging about amino acids which they are essential for this bacteria and add them also check about their fluorescent.
If you give more information about your goals, we can help better.
As I am writing this answer I have many questions in my mind and one of most important of them is in any way bacteria produce all amino acids and finally some of them has fluorescent activity.

Maria Luisa Romero-Romero I use 0.4% for pseudomonas aeruginosa. You can try different concentrations as a trial first to optimize how much growth is good for your experiments
