Many years ago a friend sent me a copy of Pons and Fleischmann's "research" on "cold fusion" *before* it was published. I took one look at it and observed that palladium is notoriously contaminated with trace radioactive elements, noting that some spark plugs with gold-palladium electrodes (e.g., NGK's) will register on a Geiger counter. Their claim was absurd. In spite of this, countless millions of dollars have been squandered chasing a phantom. When you get fusion propulsion working, please send me the data. I promise to give it a fair evaluation.
