Hi everyone, I wanted to know if there is a method that allows us to screen bioactive molecules with protective power against UV rays. For example, exposing a support containing the molecules to UV rays, and then we observe directly (visually) a character that allows us to select the protective molecules. Thank you in advance
Could you use a UV-vis spectrometer, and measure absorbance of the compounds in the UV-A and UV-B regions? More absorbance means more UV protection. After finding candidate compounds, measure how the absorbance changes over time to see how long the protection lasts.

My question was asked following a result obtained after exposing a thin layer chromatography plate to UV rays. You can observe (Fig. 1) a band on the white colored TLC plate with a sheen. For this I wanted to know if this color with a shine can be a source of protection against UV rays.

Dear Scholar, You can assess UV protection by doing SPF by spectrophotometric method.
You can evaluate in vitro through absorbance measurements between 290 and 320 nm (every 5 nm) and apply it to the Mansur equation.
