recently I am building home-made UV-Vis absorption spectrum set-up in our lab, but the big problem is happened.
What I am going to do is obtain absorption spectrum of perovskite, but, as PL of it is so intense, PL appears in the absorption spectrum.
we have to remove PL from absorption data, but just substract PL is not helping.
Do you know how to remove PL from absorption data?
In spectrometers, this problem is solved by using a light filter in front of the detector, which cuts off photoluminescence. In the already measured spectra, I think it is also possible to subtract photoluminescence, but only with known detector sensitivity for wavelength and known sample excitation spectra, for example. This will require measurements on other spectrometer.
Thank you for the kind answer. However, what we want to see is exciton level of the sample and it is close to the PL wavelength. So, we think, just cutting off PL by the light filter would be not a good idea.
Jeong Bin Cho There are dichroic filters that can be pick up to cuts off luminescence signal that are very close in wavelength (5-10 nm).

Jeong Bin Cho It would be very interesting to look at the distortion of the spectra. My last idea is to maximize the optical path, since the luminescence is non-directional, unlike the light absorption signal.
