You are right about chemical agents in the foam i didn't think about that, I will use a trimmer.

Hi Kevin,

For past experiments in my graduate school lab, we shaved the mice (on the back) using a trimmer (usually an electric men's beard trimmer) and then used wax strips to completely remove the hair from the hair follicle. The wax strips were typically women's face wax strips, as they were small and easily cut to fit the backs of the mouse. After these steps, the dorsal side of the mouse would be very smooth, without any hairs. I recommend anesthetizing the mice for this procedure, as it is painful for them to experience the waxing. We used a combination of xylazine and ketamine ("Mice were anesthetized via IP injection with a sterile sodium chloride solution of 10 mg/mL ketamine and 1.25 mg/mL xylazine solution in the lower ventral area").
