The Energy levels in 0D materials become discretized due to Quantum confinement effect and DOS can be represented by delta function. How can we correlate the optical constants like refractive index, dielectric function, optical conductivity, absorption with the confinement of charge carriers in 0D materials and Egaps, DOS etc. I wish to find some mathematical description for that in order to understand the facts?
The correlation between macroscopic optical parameters as the refractive index is not useful because you are considering objects of very few number of particles. The main physical parameters are the spectroscopic ones for determining the resonance frequencies. Perhaps it would be useful that you read the references:
