Hi Researchers :)
While reading literature on a topic, I found an area which was still unexplored. I started working on it and found no previous research was conducted on relationship of two variables. Now, while writing literature on it (especially relational literature) how would I be able to refer anything? Do I need to use theories to propose relationship or what?
Please enlighten.

While I agree in general with the sentiments expressed by Nizar, I would add a few thoughts. Logical reasoning would suffice for an exploratory study looking into the possible association of two variables, but an exploratory study might not rise to the level of publication in some fields of study. A more rigorous approach would be to identify a theoretical frame to support your speculation that the variables will prove to be associated - if only to increase your chances of getting published.
We are researchers interested in increasing knowledge, but we also have careers to manage.

simple definition: Research gap is a research question or problem which has not been answered appropriately or at all in a given field of study.

If my understanding. of LR is that it indicates logical reasoning, is correct then I do not think that you need to dig for references at every juncture. I do not believe that more references will necessarily mean better work.
Is any one of us sure that a student, who gives 300 references in a master thesis, has read them all? IMHO, science can be served better when the scholars become more reasonable.

Sir, I think you should use related support. For, instance recently I tried to look the relationships between board structure and foreign exchange exposure. I find very limited literature on it specifically. However, I find many articles describing corporate governance and risk management that is indirectly related to my topic. Therefore, you should look for some related references.
If you find out a new relationship in our model is good that you interview some expert people in your field. For instance, if you find a relationship between a and b in context of large enterprises, IT departments, Its good if you ask their IT managers (even few of them) about your new relationship and even ur model. When you talk with people which are in ur sample size of ur study, they may give idea faster than reading literature.
