I'm currently working on pushover analysis for multi-story structures on ETABS 17.1. The calculation time that it took was 96+ hours that too, for a building of 20 floors. I've many models to run, and some are even of 80 stories. Can someone suggest ways to reduce its calculation time for the structure?
Hi dear i had the same problem in my thesis. But i was working pushover analysis with opensees. My structure was a 2d frame and had 3 bays.i think the best way is to run you analysis in university with powerful and puissant systems. You can't change your properties absolutely and even if you have a solution in etabs that you can be able to reduce time you should be wary the precetion of your results.

The time taken for completing the pushover analysis depends on a number of factors such as the total degrees of freedom, the way material inelasticity is accounted for, inclusion of geometric nonlinearity effects etc. Since you are working with ETABS, I assume that you are using a lumped plasticity approach for nonlinear analysis. You may want to go through the hinge definitions to check if that is the source of time consumption. I would also suggest going through the nonlinear analysis properties to ensure that you are not using extremely low load increments which may be unwarranted.
