1. Most of the essentials active compounds in the substrate have been used up by the plantlets for shoot and root development, so what is left in the petri dishes are filler substances with little or no nutrient value

2. trying to recycle the waste for use again as media will involve much contamination and either excess or deficiency in basic nutrients concentration.

3. to use waste as fertilizer, the nutrient status of the waste should be re evaluated to know their composition before application

It is nice thought....unfortunately we can't reuse it, tissue culture is define media for optimize growth for ex plants. The consumption of media component is not uniform at the end of experiment. However your use it in compost manure production.

Agreed with comments above - we cannot recycle solid agar medium - lack of nutrients and high chances of contamination.

Really an idea to encourage. But, unfortunately, as Dr. Ubi explained the left out media should not be used.

This topic really needs attention. Bigger companies working in micro propagation generates huge amount of agar waste which creates issues in the environment. This gelly base component could not be easily degraded in the environment. we have developed technology which can convert this waste in to clear water which can be reused.
