In selective oxidation of Benzene, catalyzed by heterogeneous catalyst due to the volatile nature, quantification of unreacted Benzene is difficult which leads to wrong conclusion. Another thing is after reaction, mixture has two phases as oxidizing agent is having water so while injection which layer has dominated is unknown and results come accordingly.
Can anyone suggest how to quantify Benzene conversion when oxidizing agent is hydrogen peroxide ??
and How to maintain efficiency of catalyst if reactant (Benzene) and catalyst are in different phase due to oxidizing agent ??
I am not sure if I am missing something but wouldn't HPLC or gas chromatography work fine to quantify samples with benzene, phenol, and H2O2?
Also for the reaction, have you ever worked into super critical solvents to try and get benzene and the catalyst into the same phase for the reaction?
