Dear everyone,
I am performing gas phase catalytic reactions, where my products are detected with a mass spectrometer.
Regarding the data evaluation I have the following questions:
1. Do I need to baseline my product signal (my reactions are performed at elevated temperatures, so I would use the signal at room temperature as a baseline)?
2. If yes, do I need to do the baseline subtraction before I normalize my signal to my internal standerd (He) or after?
Different ways of evaluation lead to different results, so I would like to know, which is the proper way to deal with such data.
Additionally, is there any piece of literature that descusses such topics?
Thank you everyone in advance for your comments and help!
